Colorful Tiled Pattern

Anchors of Scenic Design

Running Order and Chronology
Joseph and his family navigate a variety of geographical locations, circumstances, and unique characters to ultimately cherish the enduring bond of family. Joseph uses his gift of dream interpretations to draw back the curtain on his future, gain courage through trying circumstances, and demonstrate resilient forgiveness toward those that have wronged him. We invite you to join our musical groove, be drawn in by the technicolor trance, and realize the dreamer is in all of us.
Research and Concept
This bible story of Joseph and his multi-color coat is reimagined through this late 1960s early 1970s explorative artistic lens with an eclectic use of song styles, character types, visual spectacle, and humor. As we draw back the curtain on Joseph’s dreams, we will bring about the aesthetic of these groovy times alongside the musical’s themes of resilience, forgiveness, and family.
Scenic Ground Plans & Renderings
The Scenic design of SCS Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat was developed from research of the story's time and place. The concept was designed in CAD using 1/4 in scale renderings and executed by student scenic designer, Sam Greer, the scenic crew of JATATD and the Technical Theatre Students of SCS. Build plans were developed in SketchUp for construction.
